BIOGRAPHY
My name is Joseph Pretari. I was born and raised in the Metro Detroit suburbs and continue to reside in the local area.
I am a Utica Community Schools alumni, having graduated from Adlai Stevenson High School in 1991.
I am married to my wife Jennifer (August 2010) and enjoy being with family, friends, working out, traveling, camping, scouting (Eagle Scout '88), computers, etc.
I have traveled throughout the U.S. and the world (eg. Canada, France, Netherlands, Jamaica, Dominican Republic, Mexico, St. Lucia, Barbados, Antigua, Aruba, and recently The Bahamas.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I completed my pre-student teaching at Cass Technical High School in Detroit in the winter/spring of 1997, then completed my student teaching at Warren Woods Tower High School in the fall of 1997. After graduating in December 1997, I substitute taught for six short months in the Utica and Chippewa Valley School districts.
I was hired, as a contract teacher, by the Utica Community Schools in August of 1998. I taught at Eisenhower High School and Stevenson High School(between 1998-2001), then at the former UCAL (now AdvancePath Academy) in an alternative education setting from 2001-2015. I have been at Malow Junior High School since the 2015-2016 school year and I have completed 21 and one-half years of teaching. Professional positions held include -- UEA Building Representative (current), School-to-Work Coordinator, Key Club Faculty Advisor, and NJHS Advisor (current) of the Malow chapter. I am also a member of the Kiwanis Club of Utica-Shelby Township. I look for ways to continue my involvement and to grow within my profession.
I am also currently employed as part of the Adjunct Faculty at Macomb Community College (January 2005) in the Business Administration and Information Technology Departments where I teach Business Communications, as well as have taught Computer & Information Processing Principles.
